Weightmans has announced the arrival of four new partners across its national practice, reinforcing the firm’s strength in key areas and supporting continued growth across its UK offices. The appointments build on recent firm momentum, including the successful mergers with Elborne Mitchell and Myton Law, which expanded Weightmans’ presence in London and Leeds and further broadened its client offering.
Joining the firm are Bill Molloy in Commercial Litigation (London), Andrew MacLeod in Professional Indemnity (Manchester), Peter Nicholson in Employment (Nottingham) and Ellie Gibbison in Private Wealth (Newcastle).
Bill Molloy joins as Partner in London from Shoosmiths. He advises on high‑value commercial litigation, arbitration and shareholder disputes, alongside corporate governance and compliance matters. Bill has particular expertise in telecommunications and intellectual property, acting across the life sciences, media and communications sectors, and is recognised as a leading lawyer in the Legal 500.
Andrew MacLeod joins from DWF as a Partner in Manchester. He specialises in defending claims against construction and design professionals, including architects, engineers, surveyors and design and build contractors. Andrew is highly regarded for his work on complex professional indemnity disputes, recovery actions for insurers and policyholders, and advising on dispute resolution, arbitration and adjudication.
Following over six months of growth since opening its Nottingham office, Weightmans also welcomes Peter Nicholson as Partner in the Employment, Pensions & Immigration team. Peter advises on Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation, including restrictive covenants, discrimination, whistleblowing and breach of contract claims. He also supports clients on workforce reorganisations, corporate transactions and TUPE matters across a range of sectors.
Ellie Gibbison is a nationally recognised adviser on estate, tax and succession planning, supporting entrepreneurs, business owners and high‑net‑worth individuals, including on complex and cross‑border matters. Ellie is co‑chair of The Law Society’s Private Client and Estates Committee and a member of STEP. Her appointment further strengthens Weightmans’ Private Wealth offering nationally and internationally.
Commenting on the appointments, Sarah Walton, Managing Partner of Weightmans, said:
“We are pleased to welcome four highly experienced partners to the firm. Their appointments support our focus on strengthening key practice areas and ensuring we continue to deliver high‑quality, trusted advice for our clients. Our momentum comes from consistent delivery – in how we work together and in the standards we set for our clients – and these appointments reinforce that approach.”
