Claims volumes unchanged as Q1 figures released

Disease Portal volumes have now stabilised, having seen a large spike in notifications in August and September 2023

Post-pandemic employers’ and public liability claims volumes remain depressed compared to the 2019 baseline.

The latest statistics published by the Online Injury Claims Portal company reveal an average of 2,324
employers’ liability claims were intimated each month for the first three months of 2024 (from January to March) and an average of 2,966 public liability claims.

The volumes remain largely unchanged to the previous year comparison (2023), which saw a monthly average of 2,302 employers’ liability (variance plus 1%) and 3,086 public liability respectively (variance minus 3.8%).

Whilst claims volumes have largely stabilised over the past two years, they remain significantly below the
pre-pandemic baseline with employers’ liability claim volumes down by 33% and public liability claim volumes down by 27%.

Disease Portal volumes have now stabilised, having seen a large spike in notifications in August and September 2023 and a significant reduction between October and December 2023, attributable to the extension of the fixed recoverable costs regime and new NIHL Protocol effective from 1 October 2023.

The Portal data is released ahead of that provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), which will show the total number of personal injury claims registered with the Compensation Recovery Unit measured between April 2023 and March 2024.
