Biography

James is a Principal Associate in the commercial dispute resolution team at Weightmans. James works primarily in handling commercial disputes and litigation, including contractual disputes (such as interpretation of contract terms and termination of contracts), shareholder disputes, disputes over directorship duties, restrictive covenants and recovery and enforcement of debts.

James has dealt with matters in the County Court and High Court, including the Business & Property Courts, King’s Bench Division and Commercial Court, as well as recently matters in the Court of Appeal.

James has experience both with dealing with disputes from their outset through to trial, as well as dealing with matters by means of Alternative Dispute Resolution, including mediation.

He has experience in dealing with document-heavy disputes and proposing strategies for the review and collation of large numbers of electronic documents to comply with electronic disclosure requirements.

Prior to joining Weightmans in January 2019, James undertook his training contract at Aaron & Partners LLP in Chester, having completed his Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Chester and his Law degree at the University of Exeter. James was promoted to Associate in September 2020 and Principal Associate in September 2022.
