Mark Woodall is a Partner based in our Manchester office who represents insurers to defend cross-border and bus transportation claims.

Mark is a robust litigator who specialises in handling cross-border and bus/logistics transportation claims on behalf of insurers. He has 30+ years experience representing defendants for motor, employment and public liability matters. He is sought after to handle complex, technical and high value claims. He also has a strong grasp of commercial interests and understands the particular requirements associated with institutional clients, including both insurers and self-insured entities. Mark is proud of the long-term relationships developed with his clients, spanning decades of mutual support. Clients particularly appreciate his ability to investigate and challenge where appropriate, plus his down-to-earth and approachable personality.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys taking adventure holidays, an interest which may have originated from his nomadic upbringing in Peru, South Africa and Mauritius.

Experience and notable cases:
  • Double fatality motor accident where liability was admitted. Claims brought by dependents. Investigations into the strength of the pre-accident relationship resulted in the discontinuance of a claim brought by the partner of one of the deceased drivers. Claim reduced from £650,000 and settled at £80,000 for the dependent children                                                                                                                                  
  • Fatal Claim arising from a fall through an unsafe roof at work. Settled on a 50/50 liability split between our client and co-defendant                                                             
  • Liability admitted claim brought by motorcycle rider pleaded at £850,000. Settled for £200,000 after challenging causation and specifically claim for future loss of earnings                                                                                            
  • Scarring injury caused by hot oil spill at work. Liability admitted with claim value exceeding £7M. Settled at £5000,000 after obtaining surveillance evidence
