Firm strengthens public sector presence with major new appointment
Weightmans has been appointed to the Orbis Legal Services Framework, delivering legal services to local authorities across the south of England for a period of four years (commencing November 21, 2025).
Orbis is a successful public sector partnership between East Sussex County Council, Surrey County Council, and Brighton & Hove City Council. As one of the UK’s foremost public sector providers of procurement services, Orbis serves the needs of the three councils, their residents, and customers.
Under the agreement, Weightmans has been appointed to 12 Lots and will deliver expert legal advisory services across a variety of sectors.
Simon Goacher, Partner and Local Government sector lead at Weightmans, commented: “We are delighted to have been selected for the Orbis Legal Services Framework. This appointment is a testament to the strength of our public sector offering. Our team brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for the public sector, and we are committed to making a positive impact for Orbis and its stakeholders throughout the duration of this framework.”
This news follows Weightmans’ recent appointment to the London Boroughs’ Legal Alliance Solicitors Panel, after a competitive procurement process for the new legal services framework valued at up to £60 million over four years. This panel is designed to support the legal needs of local authorities across Greater London and South-East England.
