The successful transaction underlines the team's expanding footprint in the venture capital and private equity space
Weightmans acted as legal adviser to Veridox, an AI-powered fraud detection platform, in a landmark £1 million funding round led by specialist early-stage fintech fund, Outward VC and supported by Solo Investments Holdings Limited.
The successful transaction, led by David Hayes, Weightmans partner, showcases the growth and expertise of the firm’s Manchester corporate team, underlining its expanding footprint in the venture capital and private equity space.
Veridox, founded by entrepreneur and former lawyer Dan Sandler, is a new AI-powered fraud detection platform that uses explainable AI to help insurers, TPAs, and investigation firms identify forged or manipulated documents and images at scale.
As generative AI makes fraud more sophisticated and harder to detect, Veridox’s forensic engine represents a step change - analysing files in depth, surfacing inconsistencies, detecting tampering, and, crucially, built to be explainable – putting together an evidence base clients can actually use.
Unlike legacy tools that rely on basic rules, flag lists, and manual reviews, Veridox’s platform layers forensic analysis with case-specific logic, offering clients a robust technical shield against new forms of digital deception.
Dan Sandler, Founder and CEO of Veridox, said:
"Weightmans has been an invaluable partner throughout this funding round. David and the team brought deep expertise, clear advice, and calm execution from start to finish, exactly what I needed when navigating a pivotal funding round for our business.
“As a founder with a legal background, I truly appreciated how seamlessly they balanced commercial judgement with legal rigour. We’re proud to have had them by our side as we take Veridox into its next chapter.”
David Hayes, Partner at Weightmans who led the transaction for Veridox, alongside Sandler, said:
“The transaction marks a huge milestone for a business in a rapidly growing market, which is even more exciting to see from a local market perspective, Veridox having been well and truly established in the North West.
“The Weightmans’ team is proud to have worked alongside all those involved and demonstrate two key attributes - Weightmans’ corporate team is growing and strengthening its presence locally, nationally and beyond, and the Manchester team specifically is marking their presence in the VC and Private Equity markets, demonstrating real expertise and growing experience.”
