Firm achieves Top 20 ranking in The Lawyer’s Emissions Tracker Report
Weightmans has been positioned as one of the UK’s top twenty performing law firms for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, according to The Lawyer’s latest Emissions Tracker report.
This comprehensive publication offers the most detailed analysis to date of how the country’s largest law firms are addressing their carbon footprints and striving for environmental responsibility.
The 2023/24 report, now in its second year, expands its coverage from the UK Top 20 to the Top 75 law firms, providing a broader view of the profession’s progress. Weightmans is proud to be ranked in the top 20 best performing firms for lowest emissions per partner (EPP) among the UK Top 75, reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
The legal profession’s contribution to climate change is significant, with GHG emissions arising from a variety of sources including energy use in offices, firm-owned buildings, purchased electricity, corporate car fleets, business travel, commuting, and supply chains. The Emissions Tracker report aims “not only to track developments, but also to encourage firms to lead by example, setting new standards for environmental stewardship at a time when the urgency of the climate crisis is impossible to ignore.”
Abhay Srivastava, Head of ESG at Weightmans, commented: “We are delighted to be recognised among the UK’s top law firms for low carbon emissions. Our commitment to responsible business practices and sustainability leadership continues, both for ourselves and in supporting our clients on their own ESG journeys. I would like to thank our talented team for their hard work and expertise in making this possible.”
Further underscoring its sustainability leadership, Weightmans has been awarded a Gold rating by EcoVadis for 2025, marking another year of improved performance. The firm increased its overall EcoVadis score by 1.25% - securing its position in the top 5% globally among all legal and accounting firms assessed by EcoVadis, the global sustainability rating provider.
