Growth drives strategic appointments to Large Loss and Cross-Border teams
Weightmans has announced the appointment of two new partners, Emma Eccles and Mark Woodall, to its Insurance law practice.
Both will be based in the firm’s Manchester office, joining at a time of unprecedented demand and growth across Weightmans’ insurance services.
Emma Eccles joins the firm as part of the national Large Loss team. Formerly a partner at Clyde & Co, Emma brings a wealth of experience in complex and high-value injury claims. She has advised insurers, public sector bodies, and corporates across the full spectrum of serious injury litigation, strengthening Weightmans’ capacity to deliver specialist expertise in this rapidly expanding area.
Mark Woodall arrives as a partner in the Cross Border team and will work closely with colleagues in both Manchester and London. Mark is recognised for his deep knowledge of handling complex transportation and cross-border claims, particularly those involving international insurers. His established client relationships, including longstanding ties with clients in the bus and coach sector, will further enhance Weightmans’ cross-border offering.

Kieran Jones, Head of Insurance at Weightmans, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Emma and Mark to the team. Their appointments significantly strengthen our Insurance practice and ensure we continue to meet the growing needs of our clients. Our growth has enabled us to attract such highly experienced practitioners, whose client-first mindset will help us deliver excellence and adapt to our clients’ ever-changing requirements.”
Carole Spiller, Regional Office Head for Manchester, added: “I am thrilled to welcome Emma and Mark to our Manchester office. I look forward to seeing the positive contributions they make to our team and the supportive culture we have developed here.”
The arrival of Emma and Mark follows recent appointments of Lee Cook, Luisa Lamb, and Elizabeth Wallace to the Large Loss team, further underlining Weightmans’ commitment to investing in market-leading talent.
Additionally, Weightmans has recently brought in a new travel insurance team following a period of strong financial growth and a significant increase in aviation and cross-border work.
