Biography

Adam is an experienced solicitor in the field of aviation litigation. His practice encompasses a broad spectrum of aviation work. Areas of particular interest and specialism include complex Commercial Court claims, General Aviation claims and claims involving a German language element (he originally studied Economics and German at university).

Adam holds the following aviation-related qualifications:

  • EASA Fixed Wing Private Pilot Licence
  • EASA Helicopter Private Pilot Licence
  • BHPA Club Pilot Paragliding Licence
  • British Gliding Association Solo Gliding Certificate

Ratings completed on fixed-wing aircraft include:

  • Class Rating Flying Instructor (Single Engine Piston aircraft)
  • Night Rating
  • IMC Rating
  • Multi-Engine Rating
  • Aerobatics Rating
  • Seaplane Rating (Canadian)

Adam has considerable experience of flying light aircraft in the United Kingdom and the United States, and has also flown in Canada and France. He has logged time on the following aircraft types:

Fixed wing

Cessna 150, Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Piper PA28-140, Piper PA28-161, Piper PA28-181, Diamond DA40, Piper Arrow, Pitts Special, Piper Cub, Ikarus C42, Grumman GA7 Cougar, Aero AT3 and Jet Provost.

Helicopters

Guimbal Cabri G2, Robinson R22 and Aerospatiale Gazelle.

In order to enhance his knowledge of commercial operations and jet aircraft, he has, in addition, completed the following training:

  • Jet Orientation Course on a Boeing 737-800 simulator
  • 30 hours on a Boeing 737-800 simulator, including simulated Line Orientated Flight Training
  • 7 hours on Airbus A320 simulator, including simulated in-flight emergencies

This training is particularly useful in terms of understanding accident reports, evaluating witness evidence, retaining experts, considering expert evidence, briefing Counsel and developing novel aviation-related arguments throughout the life of a case.
