Nathan has substantial experience in advising clients on public sector projects, commercial partnerships, joint ventures and real estate matters.

The focus of Nathan’s practice is in the public sector, specialising in acting for emergency service and healthcare clients. He acts for a full range of organisations across these sectors, including fire and rescue services, ambulance trusts, police & crime commissioners, NHS bodies, foundation trusts, real estate funders and developers. Nathan has substantial experience in advising clients on significant transformation and policy initiatives and current work involves emergency service collaboration, health and social care integration, public sector joint ventures and real estate projects.

He has advised emergency service clients on joint ventures and capital projects including new station developments and co-location strategies. Nathan’s recent work has included advising on the establishment of an LLP for an FRS and PCC for the delivery of a new headquarters and training centre in the East Midlands. He has also assisted his public sector clients in generating income from their property portfolio advising an NHS foundation trust on a joint venture with a private sector property company. He is advising a number of local authorities participating in the NHS vanguards projects on implementation of structures and governance issues.

Nathan specialises in development and within the healthcare sector has acted on over 40 schemes for both occupiers and developers of primary care premises, including 3PD, LIFT, polyclinics, community hospitals and social care centres. He also regularly advises on landlord and tenant matters, acting for both owners and occupiers and is experienced in the sale and acquisitions of healthcare property, including hospitals, surgeries and specialist clinics.

He has also advised foundation trusts on substantial transactions including the property aspects of trust mergers and business transfers.

His experience also includes advising fire and rescue authorities and ambulance trusts on substantial capital and transformation projects, including new station sales and developments, and joint ventures with other emergency service organisations.

Additionally, Nathan also advises healthcare practitioners on partnership matters, in particular those relating to practice premises including surgery acquisitions, surgery financing and refinancing and the tailoring of bespoke Declaration of Trust Deeds for surgery ownership.

Nathan has contributed to the healthcare and national press on health care real estate issues and was part of a Sky News special report on NHS property.
