Amy is an Associate in our Leicester office. Amy joined Weightmans in September 2009, qualified as a Solicitor in March 2016, and save for 12 months of her training contract, she has worked on police and local government matters. Amy specialises in defending claims against the police and her experience has included a secondment to a police force.
Amy currently acts on behalf of a number of defendants in the Police Overtime Claims Litigation which follows the judgment in Allard v Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police in 2015. Amy also handles claims against police forces relating to alleged false imprisonment, assault, trespass, unlawful search, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, breaches of the Human Rights Act 1998 and judicial review.
Amy has represented police forces in the Magistrates Court in pursuance of civil orders and in the County Courts and local authorities in the Magistrates and County Courts in relation to closure orders and committal proceedings.
