Christian qualified in 2015 and is a Partner in the Birmingham office’s Healthcare team. He acts on behalf of NHS Resolution and their member Trusts and GPs.
Christian’s practice covers a variety of medical disciplines, typically including maximum severity birth acquired brain injury, neurosurgical error, wrongful birth, and delayed diagnosis cases.
Christian has experience of advising on multi-party clinical negligence claims, cross-jurisdictional claims involving challenges to the appropriate discount rate for personal injury awards in the applicable jurisdiction, and is an advocate of alternative dispute resolution as a means to resolution.
Previously a research microbiologist, Christian has a keen interest in the medicine underpinning claims and an analytical approach to risk.
Notable cases
Christian resolved liability on a wrongful birth claim which resulted in changes to the defendant Trust’s practices and interpretation of fetal growth charts.
Christian advised on a cross-jurisdictional claim involving a severely injured claimant seeking to return to their country of birth and the recalculation of the Lord Chancellor’s discount rate for personal injury awards to account for home-country socioeconomic factors and investment markets.
