Dan Snedden

Associate

Biography

Dan is a solicitor specialising in Court of Protection work. He enjoys assisting people with capacity issues, their families, and significant others in providing support where it is needed and empowering independence wherever possible.

Capacity issues can often lead to complex situations which require investigation and resolution, and he is well placed to assist when this is the case.

Dan has worked with clients who have sustained brain injuries through a variety of life events at all ages, and with elderly (and sometimes not so elderly) clients who are living with dementia.

Weightmans assist where a professional property and affairs Deputy needs to be appointed, and our team also make applications to the Court of Protection on behalf of people who wish to be appointed as Deputy.

Applications can also be made on behalf of Deputies or Attorneys who need to request Court approval for gifting they wish to make from the estate of an incapacitated person, or where there is the need for a Statutory Will to be put in place.

Dan first began to specialise in Court of Protection work in 2009 with a national law firm, and has broadened his experience whilst working with Panel Deputies appointed by the Office of the Public Guardian. He joined Weightmans in March 2021.

He is an active member of Ilkley Round Table, who run the annual Ilkley Beer Festival and the new Ilkley Half Marathon events, both of which raise substantial sums for a wide variety of good causes.
