Biography

Daniel is a Partner in our Construction and Engineering team based in our Birmingham office. He specialises in construction and engineering transactions and disputes.

Daniel acts for a wide spectrum of clients including commercial and residential developers, building and specialist contractors, institutional funders, universities, local authorities, and healthcare providers.

Daniel’s transactional work involves assisting clients with drafting and negotiating the full suite of construction and engineering project contracts, including:

  • building and engineering contracts;
  • letters of intent;
  • development agreements and agreements for lease;
  • performance bonds;
  • parent company guarantees;
  • professional appointments;
  • sub-contracts; and
  • collateral warranties.

He also advises on, drafts and negotiates facilities maintenance contracts and process plant contracts.

Daniel is familiar with all major forms of construction industry contracts, including JCT, NEC4, FIDIC, IChemE, MF/1 and RIBA.

Daniel’s dispute practice involves assisting clients with dispute management and avoidance. Daniel is experienced in TCC litigation, adjudication, domestic and international arbitration, expert determination, and mediation.

He has advised on a wide variety of disputes, including:

  • design and workmanship defects;
  • interim and final payment disputes;
  • delay and disruption loss and expense claims; and
  • termination and insolvency-related claims.

Additionally, Daniel assists clients with dispute avoidance by advising on conflict strategy at very early stages and being an ad hoc advisor throughout the life of a project.
