Having qualified in 2001, David has been a partner since August 2007 and joined Weightmans in April 2011.
David specialises in civil litigation defendant work, working for UK insurers. He deals with a wide range of catastrophic personal injury cases, including severe head injury, subtle brain damage, spinal injury, amputation and fatal accident cases. His specialist skills include quantification of foreign care regimes and addressing chronic pain claims. He also deals with cases involving periodical payment orders, statutory funding issues, medical negligence disputes and mediation as a form of dispute resolution.
David is also a Past President of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL), having been that organisation’s President from November 2013 until November 2014, and currently heads up Weightmans' Political and Market Advisory Group. In connection with that role, David liaises with organisations such as the Ministry of Justice, the Civil Justice Council and the Law Society. He also works closely with the Association of British Insurers (ABI) and with MPs. The focus of his work in that regard is to promote the interests of Weightmans' clients when it comes to civil process reform and legislative changes that may have legal services implications for those clients.
