Deepika qualified in July 2001. She is an associate in our regulatory/professional discipline team in our Leeds. She has acted in numerous professional regulatory proceedings in front of the GMC and GDC in a wide range of personal, professional, and health misconduct matters. She is experienced in drafting written submissions in response to GMC and GDC allegations of impaired fitness to practice and has successfully drawn cases to a conclusion at an early stage. She has also successfully submitted against applications for reviews of the GDC’s case examiners’ decisions since the introduction of the new case examiners rules in November 2016. She has made written submissions in response to PHSO investigations following patient complaints. She has assisted in employment compromise agreements following a long standing investigation and suspension causing a doctor to become deskilled.
Deepika carries out her own advocacy at inquests, GMC interim order tribunal hearings, NHS England disciplinary/investigation hearings, and also at internal hospital disciplinary proceedings. Since moving to Weightmans she has been developing her inquest practice. Deepika also has in depth knowledge of the data protection act and has advised on many cases involving third party requests for data and on data protection rights. Deepika is member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers.
