Elaine McIlroy is a partner in the employment, pensions and immigration team at Weightmans based in Glasgow. She leads the firm’s employment offering in Scotland. She has been a specialist employment lawyer since 2000 and is dual qualified (Scotland and England & Wales). She has several years’ city experience having practiced in London for five years.
Elaine advises employers on all aspects on employment law but with a special focus on TUPE and strategic advisory work. She has extensive experience of TUPE and the employment aspects of transaction work having acted for major banks, financial institutions and international defence companies on major transactions in London for many years.
She is also an experienced advocate and regularly appears in Tribunals throughout the UK.
Elaine is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Scottish Steering Group of the Employment Lawyers Association in Scotland, the Scottish Employment Law Group and the Immigration Law Practitioners Association.
Elaine regularly publishes in the press and presents on employment law and immigration topics. She recently spoke at the Employment Lawyers Association Annual Scottish Conference alongside Gavin Mansfield QC.
She has recently published numerous articles or has been quoted as an expert in the Times and the Scotsman on employment law subjects and on Brexit.
Elaine’s employment and immigration practice in Scotland was recognised in 2016 by the Legal 500.
