Ian is a Partner in the employment, pensions and immigration team, based in the Manchester office and has over 15 years’ experience of advising employers on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law.
He is skilled at advising clients in the private and public sector, including clients in the healthcare, education and insurance sectors. He has considerable experience in acting for NHS Trusts and clients in the health and social care sector, generally and was instructed by a number of Local Medical Committees and care homes to provide specialist advice on the mandatory vaccination programme, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He regularly appears before the Employment Tribunals in England and the Employment Appeal Tribunal and has a successful track record of defending complex and high value Employment Tribunal proceedings, including claims for unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and TUPE.
Ian provides operational and strategic advice on all areas of employment law including:
- contractual terms and conditions of employment;
- employment policies and procedures;
- management and disciplinary and grievance matters;
- performance and sickness absence management;
- TUPE and large-scale business reorganisations; and
- settlement agreements.
Ian also regularly speaks at conferences and seminars and provides bespoke in-house training on a range of employment and equality issues.
