James Denison



James acts for major financial lines insurers and corporate clients, specialising in the resolution of professional and management liability claims arising in the financial, broking, construction and engineering industries. He also advises the insurance market in relation to policy coverage issues arising from such matters.

With almost 20 years' experience of dealing with financial services disputes, James has a deep understanding of a range of investment products and the specialist legal, procedural and regulatory issues arising from complaints against investment intermediaries. James is also recognised by clients for his detailed knowledge of construction law and he is ranked in the Legal 500 in relation to both professional negligence and commercial litigation.

James has substantial experience of conducting complex, multi-party litigation via the English courts. He has also dealt with a large number of matters via the Financial Ombudsman Service, construction adjudication and arbitration and has settled many cases via mediation. James approaches each matter with the aim of reaching a swift conclusion on the best possible terms taking account of all legal, procedural and commercial issues, delivering maximum value for clients.

James acted for the defendant financial advisers in FSCS v Larnell [2005] EWCA Civ 1408, for the Part 20 claimant insurance broker in Fisk v Brian Thornhill & Son (A Firm) [2007] EWCA Civ 152 and for the defendant estate agents in Venulum Property Investment Ltd v Space Architecture Ltd and others [2013] EWHC 1242 (TCC).

James regularly contributes to the discussion of legal and insurance developments in the press and delivers training seminars to clients.
