Joe WaltonPrincipal Associate
Joe is a Principal Associate who specialises in defending claims against professionals and advising clients on matters relating to insurance policy disputes.
Joe has worked with insurers, brokers and insureds in both the public and private sectors, as well as medical defence organisations, having spent five years acting for healthcare providers, NHS Trusts and private surgeons in defence of clinical negligence/medical malpractice claims. This work included claims arising from prison healthcare services, out of inquests and as part of group-actions, which received national media attention.
Joe now defends a range of insureds in fields such as architecture, planning, surveying, structural engineering, media, film & TV, accountancy, renewable energy and numerous specialist-designers involved in the construction industry.
As well as acting in the defence and resolution of claims, Joe also advises insurers on issues of policy coverage, including matters arising from breach of conditions, warranties and fair presentation. The applicability and effect of exclusion, aggregation and mitigation clauses are a regular feature of his work.
Joe has also completed a year’s secondment to an international insurance company as a claims adjuster in their London PI team.
