Julie is a specialist environmental lawyer with a national reputation as a specialist in defending clients subject to environmental investigations and prosecutions. She has extensive experience having worked as a senior prosecutor for the Environment Agency before moving to work ‘on the other side of the fence’ in 2008.
Julie’s expertise enables her to advise on a wide range of environmental matters including waste regulation, water pollution, statutory nuisance, trans-frontier shipment of waste, proceeds of crime, and producer responsibility. She is highly regarded in the waste sector due to her specialist knowledge and experience in this sector. She also deals with investigations and prosecutions brought by other regulators such as Local Authorities, HSE, VOSA, and the CPS.
In addition to contentious work, Julie regularly advises on non-contentious environmental matters. She works closely with our other practice areas such as commercial property and corporate to provide transactional support and due diligence advice in real-estate and corporate transactions. Julie has experience of contaminated land and brownfield development and advises on risk strategies and managing risks associated with property and corporate transactions.
Julie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) and UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA).
