Martina Hogg is a lead compliance consultant within the Compli team. Prior to joining Weightmans she worked for over eight years at the forensic investigation unit of the SRA and whilst there undertook numerous complex financial investigations. Martina dealt with the investigations from ‘cradle to grave’; analysing the initial intelligence, undertaking the on site investigation, compiling the Forensic Investigation report and giving evidence at Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.
Since joining Compli in June 2012 Martina has dealt with a number of ABS applications, including applications from law firms wanting to introduce a non-lawyer owner and applications from outside the established legal market. Following the implementation of the LASPO reforms Martina worked with a number of claimant personal injury firms advising how to acquire cases and market their business in a compliant manner.
Along with other colleagues in the Compli team Martina has defended solicitors subject to SRA investigation and disciplinary action. As part of the Compli team Martina provides support and advice to retained clients on a wide range of regulatory issues. Thanks to her years at the SRA Martina has an in depth knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules and can assist firms in avoiding the common mistakes that sometimes result in breaches.
