Sally qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and has worked in a variety of practice settings, beginning her career in high street practice, initially as a claimant clinical negligence solicitor, then joining the family department covering both private and public law matters, including representing parents in care proceedings.
Before joining Weightmans, Sally was the Senior Solicitor at a Metropolitan Borough Council in the Child and Adult Social Care Team and since joining Weightmans has acted for local authorities in child care matters. As well as the 'usual' child care cases, including pre-proceedings and care proceedings, she has represented local authorities in cases concerning deprivation of liberty, secure accommodation, cases with a foreign element and judicial review.
Sally has carried out the function of Duty Solicitor for a number of years, dealing with any matter that may arise including out-of-hours applications to court. She has been the legal adviser on a number of serious case reviews and legal adviser to a LSCB and a Child Death Overview Panel.
Sally served two terms of office as a Non-Executive Director for an NHS Foundation Trust and was a Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) with experience and knowledge of governance and data handling in highly sensitive arenas.
