Sophie Cassidy an associate solicitor in the Regulatory team based in London.
Sophie specialises in regulatory and police law, covering all aspects of: Inquests, Inquiries, Claims against the police (defendant) and Police conduct. Sophie represents several forces, including the Metropolitan Police Service, British Transport Police, Surrey & Sussex Police. Sophie is currently on secondment with the Metropolitan Police Service, DLS Inquests & Inquiries Team. She advises on inquests involving suicide, murders, police collisions, missing persons, Right Care Right Person, murder suicides, railway fatalities and deaths in custody.
Sophie works on high profile inquests with media interest involving nuanced IOPC and DSI investigations. Inquiries: Sophie has been instructed on the Undercover Policing Inquiry. Sophie has instructed and worked with experienced counsel navigating the disclosure and redaction stage, complex Rule 9 Requests, Section 21 Notices, witness care and Inquiry hearings. Conduct Proceedings: Sophie has a wide-ranging of experience acting on behalf of the Appropriate Authority for various forces in proceedings brought under the Police (Conduct) Regulations and Police Appeals Tribunals Rules. She advises on public liability claims including actions for false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, negligence, workplace stress, and claims under the Human Rights Act and Equality Act.
Sophie has worked on the Undercover Policing Inquiry, high-profile Article Two and jury inquests, as well as high-profile police conduct cases.
