Biography

Victoria works in the Casualty Police Core Team and has handled police law matters for a number of years. Whilst in-house for a West Country Constabulary Victoria specialised in Civil Protective Orders; supporting police to protect their community’s most vulnerable such as those suffering from domestic abuse.

Victoria assists police in their public order duties, working on everything from large scale music festivals to dealing with the aftermath of riots. Victoria also has experience in dealing with liquor licensing queries and firearms licensing appeals. Victoria has forfeited cash and accounts under the Proceeds of Crime Act – including complex money laundering involving crypto currency and underground banking.

As well as advising, Victoria advocates in court on a variety of police matters and has Higher Rights of Audience in the civil jurisdiction. This allows Victoria to represent police in matters such as appeals against Civil Protective Orders or Proceeds of Crime forfeitures in the Crown Court. Victoria is able to support police clients from initial advice to conclusion at court.

Victoria also has a keen interest in Coronial law and has assisted police clients at inquests as interested persons in ‘Article 2’ matters both with and without a jury.

Victoria has advised Constabularies on a broad variety of policing matters including RIPA, warrants, PACE, policies, disclosure and contracts.

Through all the police work Victoria has handled over a number of years, a thorough understanding of Human Rights law and its practical application, balancing powers of police authority and with rights of the citizen.

Prior to working in police law, Victoria spent several years handling claimant personal injury work dealing with road traffic accidents involving catastrophic injuries.
