Matthew Morton

Matthew is the national head of the disputed wills, trusts and estates team. He covers the Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Newcastle offices. He is a full member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists. He is recognised by Legal 500 and is ranked in the top 10 practitioners in Yorkshire and the North East by Chambers and Partners as a leading individual in this area of law.

Matthew is experienced in disputes involving the administration of estates, will validity claims, proprietary estoppel, Inheritance Act claims and also disputes involving trustees, executors and beneficiaries.

Matthew is regularly instructed by a number of well-known charities for his specialist knowledge in contentious trust and estate disputes and also receives instructions from solicitors, barristers and accountants. Matthew is regularly the lead solicitor on high profile cases that are reported in the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

Matthew is the co-author of the chapter on Inheritance Act claims in the 2020 Edition of the Resolution Family Law Handbook

Arshoo Singh

Arshoo is a partner in our private wealth team and joined the firm in August 2021. She has extensive experience in advising both UK and international clients.

She has written articles for legal journals and spoken on a number of issues including domicile, digital assets and international mental capacity issues. She is a consulting editor for LexisPSL Editorial Board.

Arshoo is named as a Next Generation Partner in Legal 500 2022 and has been ranked in the directory since 2017. She is ranked in the Private Client Global Elite Directory since 2017 as ‘One to Watch’.

Arshoo has over 15 years’ experience on a broad range of cross-border and UK succession and taxation issues including Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Stamp Duty Land Tax. She regularly advises clients including business owners, trustees, executors, attorneys and beneficiaries on a wide range of private client issues and has also acted as a joint tax expert appointed by the court in family law proceedings. She has a particular focus on handling the administration of complex contentious cross-border estates and cross-jurisdictional issues arising in international mental capacity cases.

She also represents families and deputies in contentious Court of Protection matters. She recently acted in The Public Guardian v Andrew Riddle (No.1 and No.2) [2020] EWCOP 41.
