Join us virtually for this important update
After the Employment Rights Bill’s seemingly endless ‘ping-ponging’ between the Houses of Commons and Lords during 2025, the Bill finally received Royal Assent on 18 December and became the Employment Rights Act 2025 (ERA 2025). The Government has confirmed that, save for a couple of exceptions, the implementation timetable set out in its July 2025 ‘road map’ remains in place and so we now have the prospect of both staged implementation dates and various consultation exercises as the Government seeks to draft Regulations and guidance which will provide the detail around many of the upcoming provisions of the ERA 2025. There is also other employment legislation on the horizon.
In the first of a series of periodic updates during 2026, Sejal Raja and Mark Landon will in this first update:
- summarise the current implementation timetable for the ERA 2025 and other employment legislation;
- review the legal and practical implications around those measures which are scheduled to be implemented by the 1 April 2026;
- outline practical steps you should consider in relation to the other measures so that you are ready for the changes.
There are significant changes on the horizon, which we will help you navigate during the course of 2026.
