Large loss talks - fibromyalgia in the courtroom

Thursday 29 January 2026 | 12pm -2pm

Published on:

We are delighted to welcome Pankaj Madan and Psychiatrist Dr Christopher Bass to our London office for this hybrid lunchtime talk, hosted by Weightmans partner Charles Heppenstall.

Together, they will take a close look at fibromyalgia and associated pain conditions, exploring everything from initial triage through to scrutiny by the trial judge - all from a defendant’s perspective.

In-person attendees are invited to join us from 12pm for sandwiches and networking, with the talk taking place from 1pm to 2pm, both in person and online.

During the last 15 years his medicolegal work has involved assessing patients for the Courts with chronic pain and functional neurological disorder [FND] following accidents, and he has a particular interest in patients with complex regional pain syndrome Type 1 and fibromyalgia. In 2021 he published a review on chronic pain in personal injury with Dr Jon Valentine, and in 2025 an editorial on CRPS.
