Harpreet Kaur Bhandari, is a Principal Associate based in the Weightmans London office.

Harpreet has over 10 years’ experience in defending clinical negligence claims having worked in the past at top tier law firms.

Harpreet has advised NHS Trusts, NHS Resolution and GPs during this time. Harpreet has acted in a wide variety of high value clinical negligence cases including, general surgical, orthopaedic, neurosurgical, birth injury, spinal injury, brain injury including fatal claims. Harpreet has a keen interest in cauda equina claims and has successfully defended a cauda equina claim at trial.

Harpreet has extensive experience at all stages of the litigation process especially ADR/mediation, where she has achieved a number of settlements which have been complex and sensitive in nature as well as securing discontinuances on a number of claims. Harpreet goes the extra mile for her clients in order to achieve the best possible outcome for all and early resolution where possible.

Harpreet has also had previous experience working in the healthcare regulatory sector.

Experience and noteable cases

•    Anne Edith Powell v University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust [2023] EWHC 736 (KB) – trial success on behalf of the Defendant Trust, in which the Claimant alleged that there was a failure to consent the claimant on options to manage her knee infection, which led to amputation of her leg.

•    Sarah Jarman v University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust [2021] EWHC 323 (QB) – trial success on behalf of the Defendant, in which the Claimant alleged delay in diagnosing and treating cauda equina syndrome. 

•    Joy Willmott v Royal Berkshire NHS Trust [2021] EWHC 1196 (QB) – Appeal – successfully obtained a wasted costs order against the Claimant’s legal representatives for pursuing a clinical negligence claim without the appropriate expert evidence on breach of duty. Claimant’s appeal was refused.
