Laurel is a Principal Associate within the healthcare team, specialising in the defence of clinical negligence and medical malpractice claims. She is based in our Leeds office.

Laurel has extensive claims, advisory and regulatory experience in the health and social care sector. She primarily defends civil claims, acting in complex, high value cases and having successfully defended clients both pre- and post-litigation, including to trial. She also acts in an advisory capacity, at Inquest stage and in dealings with professional regulatory bodies.


She routinely acts for medical defence organisations, medical malpractice insurers and their insureds / members, including doctors (GPs and secondary care), dentists, medical and dental practices, NHS Trusts, private hospitals and clinicians, together with beauty / aesthetics practitioners. She has further experience defending private clients in vicarious liability and data breach matters, defending product liability claims against medical device manufacturers and has additional group litigation experience in a defendant occupational disease capacity, acting as lead Associate for a UK Government Department in both the High Court and Court of Appeal.
