Matthew is an associate in our national family team, joining Weightmans in May 2015 having previously worked at London firm Clintons.
He specialises in the financial ramifications of divorce and separation and is a Resolution Accredited Specialist for complex financial and cohabitation cases. He has extensive experience of high net worth matters, including those involving complex company, pension and trust assets. He represents cohabiting couples in relation to disputed property interests under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and advises in relation to financial provision for children under Schedule 1 Children Act 1989. He is also frequently instructed to prepare pre-nuptial, post-nuptial and cohabitation agreements.
Matthew also represents clients in children matters, including where a parent wishes to permanently remove a child from the jurisdiction of England and Wales, or relocate to another area of the country.
Matthew takes a proactive approach to reach the best possible settlement for clients in a cost-effective and timely manner, whether negotiating out of court or using the court process.

He is a well-known figure in the local family law community, being Chair of Merseyside Resolution, the membership group for family law professionals in the Merseyside region. He also sits on numerous court committees and the Liverpool Law Society family law committee.
