Key cases 

  • Acted for the Claimants in a multi-party professional negligence claim against former solicitors who advised the Claimants on a multi-million pound property refinance deal to develop a stately home, hotel and golf and leisure complex.  The advice was financially disastrous and one of the Claimants lost his home, business and music royalties. Settled prior to a 15-day trial in the London Business & Property Court.  

  • Acted for the Claimants in respect of a professional negligence claim against the solicitors involved in a hotel development transaction for failing to warn/advise that the transaction was potentially an unauthorised collective investment scheme (s.235 of FSMA 2000).  

  • Acted for the Claimant in respect of a professional negligence action against an insurance broker, for failing to put the correct insurance policy in place concerning an apartment block which was substantially fire damaged.  The Claimant made a claim under the insurance cover, but the Insurer declined to indemnify for the loss of rent on the serviced apartments. 

  • Acted for the Claimants in relation to a professional negligence claim against solicitors following advice provided in respect of an acquisition and disposal of an industrial site. Negligent advice was provided which resulted in an error on the title, which required rectification by way of deed of surrender, and causing the Claimants loss and damage.  

  • Acted for the Claimants in relation to a professional negligence claim against their former tax advisors who failed to properly advise and ensure that the Claimants would qualify for Entrepreneurs Tax Relief (“ETR”) on the sale of the shares when their company was sold resulting in additional tax and interest payable. The claim settled at mediation. 

  • Acted for the Claimant in respect of a professional negligence claim against their former accountants for negligent advice in respect of a group reorganisation and with regards to additional tax payable to HMRC, as a consequence, including interest and penalties.    

  • Acted for the Claimant in relation to a professional negligence claim against its former financial adviser/wealth manager with regards to high risk and unsuitable investment products which resulted in substantial loss and damage.
