The General Election 2024 ushered in a time of change. After fourteen years, Labour returned to power. Traditionally, left wing governments look to focus on public services and workers’ rights. They tend to be more willing to spend, and after fourteen years this administration set out a mission in the King’s Speech.
A year on, we see battles over public finances, and other ‘difficult’ issues raging. What does this mean for local government? Devolution is rolling on with some contentious local disputes emerging. The ESG drive means electric cars, wind turbines and nuclear power stations. Will the 1.5 million home building target be reached? At the same time, claimant lawyers are putting much more energy into human rights and social service failure cases. Underneath it all, however, is the spectre of dwindling finances.
We will be hosting a seminar to explore the above at our London office at the Hallmark Building, 105 Fenchurch Street, London, EC3M 5JG. In a packed programme followed by lunch, we will look at the changes coming and how local government needs to engage and respond. This seminar will give delegates unique insights on how to meet the challenges of this brave new world. Come and join us.
