Lynette Wallace is an Associate in the Regulatory Advisory Healthcare team based in our Nottingham office, providing support across the national team.
Lynette has significant experience working in the Court of Protection, Inherent Jurisdiction and managing applications to authorise deprivation of liberty in the community. She advises on a broad range of healthcare matters including under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983, discharge to the community, commissioning responsibilities, responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, judicial review, healthcare data law, and safeguarding.
She has acted on behalf of NHS Trusts, local authorities, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), prison healthcare providers and independent healthcare providers. Lynette brings a valuable in-house perspective on the challenges faced by acute NHS trusts, having previously been seconded to a large NHS Trust to assist with inquests, Court of Protection matters and claims.
Her interest and advocacy for individuals with disability in society has likely led to a growing niche in cases involving patients with learning disabilities.
After entering the legal profession in 2014 with an award under the Law Society’s Diversity Access Scheme, Lynette gained early paralegal experience handling expert instruction matters and assisting with clinical negligence matters for NHS Resolution.
Externally, Lynette has been a Social Mobility Ambassador for the Law Society since 2020 and has been recognised for her work and advocacy through a number of awards, including:
